CARNet School Portal ranks among the best ones at the Web Fest .Me 2011 festival

Registrations for this year's competition entitled Web Fest .Me 2011 were opened on 1st September. Voting took place from 20th October to 10th November 2011, and CARNet School Portal was among the best three webs in the Educational Sites category. All web projects or websites from the whole region could have been submitted for the competition.

The winners were chosen by the expert jury, as well as the audience. Web Festival's jury comprises regional IT and Internet area professionals who, in the course of their work, reached the level of the authority necessary to evaluate the quality of web projects, and the webs have been evaluated according to the following parameters - design, functionality and contents.

1200 webs from the whole region were registered for the competition in 19 different categories (informative, business and entertainment webs, webs from the field of culture and arts, educational, institutional and personal webs, sports webs, multimedia, Blog, Forum, experimental webs, E-administration webs, mobile platforms, E-commerce webs, magazines, visual design, Facebook page/application and mobile application). Within the Educational sites category, as many as 144 educational webs from the whole region were registered, and the School Portal ranked among the first three.

In addition to prizes for particular categories, the Jury Grand Prix and Audience Grand Prix were awarded. Web Fest .Me is the largest regional Internet festival dedicated to the promotion and improvement of the Internet and the society as a whole. Web Fest .ME consists of online competitions for the best website/web project and the conference bringing together the best-known world experts from all areas of the web industry. The competition has been taking place for four years, which means that the first competition was organised in 2007.

This year's Web Fest .ME finished on 25th November 2011 with the prize awards ceremony for the best web projects and the formal closing ceremony at the "Božidarac" culture centre. The winner was the web, who received the Grand Prix, as chosen by the expert jury.
