Increasing the link speed of CARNet member institutions and connecting new members

Further upgrading of CARNet in 2000, 7 new locations of institutions have been linked and the link speed was increased at 57 locations. In the year 2000, the links for 34 new locations were ordered at the Croatian Telecom (Hrvatski Telekom) as well as the link speed increase at 25 locations. It should be pointed out that CARNet set the standard for minimal link speed of full members which is 2 Mbps. Link to tables:

Overview of links used towards member institutions

In the year 2000, CARNet had links to member institutions in 22 Croatian towns (Dubrovnik, Đakovo, Ivanić Grad, Jastrebarsko, Karlovac, Križevci, Mali Lošinj, Opatija, Osijek, Poreč, Pula, Rijeka, Rovinj, Sisak, Slavonski Brod, Split, Šibenik, Varaždin, Vinkovci, Višnjan, Zadar, Zagreb) and one town in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Mostar). The number of members varied, depending on the number of new links, i.e. disconnected members or their additional locations, and it ranged around 170. The link speeds connecting member institutions ranged from the minimum 19.2 kbps using leased lines to member institutions located at fast ATM core (155 and 622 Mbps respectively).
