Organised by the Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNet, the Cisco Academy programme has been carried out in Croatia since 2000. CARNet is the only Regional Cisco Academy in Croatia for the  CCNA, NS and UNIX programmes and is at the same time a Local Cisco Academy operating according to the CCNP curriculum.

18 educational institutions, state organisations and non-profit organisations participate in the programme together with CARNet, and up to this date courses have started in a total of 16 local academies. As the Regional Academy, CARNet provides full support to local academies, including help in setting up classrooms with the necessary equipment and teacher training . CARNet is also in charge of ensuring a high level of training quality in each local academy.

As the Regional Cisco Academy, CARNet educates instructors in local academies according to the following curricula:

• CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
• NS (Network Security)
• UNIX (Fundamentals of UNIX/Linux)
• Wireless (Fundamentals of Wireless)
• IT Essentials

At the same time, CARNet functions as a local academy and educates end users according to the CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) programme.
