The CARNet Cruncher is a service offering member institutions the use of high-performance servers - SGI® Altix™ for scientific computing purposes. For more information about the manufacturer, go to http://www.sgi.com/products/servers/.

The target scope of the service includes computational biology, computational chemistry, mathematical modelling and statistics, medical research and imaging, as well as other areas of research in which software support with high demands for processing and memory resources can be applied.

The service is open to all full members of CARNet who intend to use it for non-profit research purposes, with the exception of institutions which obtain a special approval from CARNet for its use.
