A new phase of the "Child Online Safety" project

The project of development of the "Child Online Safety" school curriculum, in which CARNet participates as a partner, entered its penultimate phase - pilot testing of the prepared curriculum and accompanying educational content.

The "Child Online Safety" school curriculum has been organised in four modules and vertically coordinated in five units: information, communications, content creation, safety and problem solving, according to the recommendation of the European Framework for Key Competences for Lifelong Learning.

Each of the four modules has been prepared for a specific age of children in elementary schools in the Republic of Croatia:

a module for pupils of the 1st and 2nd grade a module for pupils of the 3rd and 4th grade a module for pupils of the 5th and 6th grade and a module for pupils of the 7th and 8th grade.

Each module contains 20 subjects (80 subjects in total) to be covered during the school year, with ten subjects per grade.

Draft versions of all contents are published at the project's website http://www.petzanet.hr, and all teachers are invited to take a look and apply them in their schools.

The "Curriculum" menu contains a comprehensive curriculum with module timetables and timetable proposals per each grade. Within that menu, the contents can be browsed per modules, classified according to their users or the forms of content (students, teachers, parents and multimedia).

The comprehensive overview is available by searching the database containing more than 800 records on the basis of 16 criteria. All contents have been published under the CC-BY-NC-SA license and are free for download and use for non-commercial purposes.

It is especially important to highlight the "Virtual classroom", where all 80 subjects have been prepared in e-textbook form, thus making the contents of each subject easily accessible to students, teachers and parents.

All interested parties can test and implement the "Child Online Safety" school curriculum and the pedagogical team consisting of 30 teachers will gladly help them.
