Zagreb Pleso Airport (ZAG)

Location: The airport is situated 10 miles (17km) southeast of Zagreb.

Getting to and from the city:

A Croatia Airlines bus service connects to the city centre's bus station, leaving from outside the international arrivals hall (30 min). One way ticket costs approx. 30 kn (4€). A taxi rank is also situated right outside the international arrivals. Average taxi fare from the airport to city center is 150-200 kn (20-30 €).

Car rental: Avis, Budget, Europcar and Hertz are among the rental agencies represented at the airport.

Facilities: The airport has a bank, a duty-free shop, a post office, tourist information kiosk, and 24-hour left luggage service. The Faust Vrančić Restaurant is situated on the first floor of the passenger's terminal; a cafe/bar is also available.

Airport bus shuttle

Once you reach Zagreb Airport, you will find the airport bus shuttle (Pleso prijevoz) station in direction Zagreb Bus Station (Autobusni kolodvor) located just outside the International Arrivals (landside).
From Zagreb Bus Station take tram number 2 or 6, get off at the Central Railway station (Glavni kolodvor) and take a short walk to the hotel.
The average travel time on this route is some 25 minutes. One way ticket is 30 Kuna.

**The last bus from the Zagreb Airport leaves every day at 8 pm (20:00), and after that buses leave shortly after the arrival of the aircrafts (regular flights).

Trams

The tram network operates 24 hours a day.
4AM to 12AM - "day-time“ lines (tram lines 1-9, 11-15 and 17),
12AM to 4AM - "night" lines (tram lines 31-34) which cover most of the day-time lines on a reduced (around 30-40 minute) frequency.
There are maps of the tram lines on almost every stop, so if you know the nearest stop to your destination you can simply figure out the shortest trip while you're at the stop.

Buy a ticket and punch it (insert it) in the little orange machine once you enter to validate. All single tickets are transfer tickets valid in multiple vehicles travelling in a single direction, so you won't need a new ticket when switching trams and/or buses. If you purchase the paper ticket (which you most likely will do) in most trams the only ticket machines which can validate are at the front of the tram.
If you plan on taking more than two rides, buy a daily ticket.

Funicular

A historic funicular railway (uspinjača in Croatian), one of the steepest in the world, operates between the lower and upper towns. Monthly, daily as well as single tram/bus ticket can be used, otherwise there is a small fee for a ride.

Whether you arrive in Zagreb by airplane or train and you need transportation to your final destination you can use taxi service by calling 060/800-800. Taxi usually comes within 10 to 15 minutes.  

Taxis are obliged to have their taxi-meter on.

Due to regulations, they are not able to pick up customers at the Pleso Airport but they are able to transport customers from Zagreb to the Airport.

Zagreb Card

Travellers who are staying for several days should consider buying the Zagreb Card. The card offers unlimited travel on public transport in Zagreb, discounts at virtually all of the city’s museums, reduced prices at many restaurants, shops, and service providers and many other concession. The card is valid for 72 or 24 hours from the date and time entered on the card and is not transferable. With the card you will receive a separate booklet in which you will find a list of service providers and the discounts available at their establishments. 24 hours card costs 60 Kuna and 72 hours card costs 90 Kuna (approx. 12 Euros) You can purchase the Zagreb Card online and at all of Zagreb’s Tourist Information Centres.
