On the first day of May, the second phase of the pan-European infrastructure project G\u00c9ANT4 began, which will last for 32 months, until December 31, 2018. G\u00c9ANT4 is conducted under the Framework Partnership Agreement (FPA) covering a 7-year period and is funded under the Horizon 2020 program, the European Union's Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (2014-2020). Croatia is represented in the project by the Croatian Academic and Research Network \u2013 CARNet.<\/p>\n
GN4GA2 (Special Grant Agreement) will help raise European research to a higher level by promoting scientific excellence, access to research data and its reuse, and supporting Open Science. It will also encourage the reduction of scientific infrastructure costs by promoting the interoperability of e-infrastructures at the European level.<\/p>\n
The G\u00c9ANT project has grown through its iterations (GN2, GN3, GN3plus, GN4-1) and today, in addition to its award-winning 500 Gbps physical network, it includes a portfolio of advanced, user-oriented services that push the boundaries of network technologies. The G\u00c9ANT network is an advanced Pan-European Research and Education Network that, on its own optical infrastructure, ensures the interlinking of European academic and research networks with capacities up to 500 Gbps and connects Europe to other continents. The G\u00c9ANT network currently connects over 50 million users across Europe.<\/p>\n
CARNet, as a third party in the project, and as a long-term partner of CARNet on G\u00c9ANT projects, is also monitored by the University Computing Centre of the University of Zagreb. CARNet has continued its active contribution to the new generation of the project and, with a large number of employees participating in the project, will continue to actively participate in the development of the most advanced pan-European research network.<\/p>\n
CARNet representatives have been shown great trust and will also be task and activity leaders. Ivana Golub will be the deputy activity leader for SA2 and the task leader for SA2 T3, and Branko Radojevi\u0107 from CARNet will lead task JRA4 T1.<\/p>\n
