{"id":791,"date":"2017-02-02T14:05:00","date_gmt":"2017-02-02T13:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.carnet.hr\/croatian-students-will-develop-and-evaluate-their-digital-competences-in-criss-project\/"},"modified":"2019-02-08T16:51:01","modified_gmt":"2019-02-08T15:51:01","slug":"croatian-students-will-develop-and-evaluate-their-digital-competences-in-criss-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carnet.hr\/en\/croatian-students-will-develop-and-evaluate-their-digital-competences-in-criss-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Croatian students will develop and evaluate their digital competences in the CRISS project"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In January 2017, the CRISS project (Demonstration of a scalable and cost-effective cloud-based digital learning infrastructure through the Certification of digital competences in primary and secondary schools) began as part of the European Union's Horizon 2020 Programme.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The purpose of the CRISS project is the development and pilot implementation of a digital platform for the acquisition, evaluation, and certification of digital competencies of students in primary and secondary schools. The CRISS platform will be tested through a large-scale pilot involving over 490 schools, 25,400 students, and 2,290 teachers across several European countries.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Croatian students and teachers will have the opportunity to join the project through the Croatian Academic and Research Network \u2013 CARNet, which is one of the CRISS project partners. Up to 1,000 Croatian students and 60 teachers from 20 schools will join the pilot project, which will take place throughout the 2018\/2019 school year. Croatian students and their teachers will use the CRISS platform during course activities in different subjects, thereby developing and evaluating their digital competencies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CARNet has joined the CRISS project upon invitation from the Faculty of Organization and Informatics, which plays a key role in the project's preparation and implementation. Based on the high-quality expertise of its professionals, the Faculty of Organization and Informatics manages the research aspect of the project, including the development of the CRISS certification framework, the CRISS project performance assessment instrument, and the scientific dissemination instrument.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The first year of the CRISS project will be dedicated to the development of a theoretical model for the acquisition of digital competencies of students and the development of the CRISS platform. CARNet will participate in the development of the CRISS theoretical model under the guidance of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uoc.edu\/portal\/en\/index.html\">Open University of Catalonia<\/a>&nbsp;&nbsp;The Open University of Catalonia (UOC) was established in 1994 as one of the world's first higher education institutions to offer fully online degree programs. Today, the UOC has over 50,000 students from around the globe and maintains its status as a technologically advanced institution with an innovative teaching style. The UOC also has a robust research and development component, which is realized through numerous national and European projects in which it participates.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The CRISS project began on January 1, 2017, and will conclude on December 31, 2019. The total value of the project is approximately 6 million euros, of which the European Commission will finance up to 4.87 million euros. The CRISS project coordinator is the British company EXUS Software LTD, with fourteen partners participating in the project, including public institutions, non-profit organizations, universities, small and medium-sized enterprises, and large corporations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project activities can currently be followed on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/crissH2020\">Twitter<\/a>, and the official CRISS project website with all available information will be published soon.
