Privacy Notice - Loomen

The Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET respects the privacy and security of its users. Therefore, through this privacy notice, we wish to inform you about what personal data we collect, how we use it, how we ensure its protection, and what your rights are regarding data processing. 

The data we collect

When logging into the Loomen system, user personal data is collected for the purposes of learning and teaching, and we do not process it for other purposes, based on Article 6 paragraph 1(b) of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 27, 2016, on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation) (OJ L 119, 4. 5. 2016).

When registering for the Loomen system, the following personal data is collected: user's first and last name, username, email address, IP address, user's OIB (Personal Identification Number), and activity ratings and results. All personal data is used solely for the purposes for which it was collected.

Using the Google Drive system

When a user in a Loomen course chooses to add a document via the Google Drive repository, a special authorization window opens where they select their username and password, and the user is authorized to the Google Drive system. The username and password are not stored in Loomen. 

If the person is already logged into their Google account in the browser, the option to select a document from Google Drive will automatically open. 

After the user successfully authorizes on Google Drive, they are returned to the home screen and can access their files/documents and link them to activities and resources in Lomen.

The period for which personal data will be stored

User data is permanently stored in the Loomen system.

Transfer of your personal data

The collected data will not be made available to third parties in any way, except in cases where such an obligation is regulated by law.

Our user has the following rights at all times:

  • right to access data and inspect data
  • Right to be informed about the processing of personal data
  • right to lodge a complaint

The security of your personal data

We take all technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized or unlawful processing and from accidental loss, destruction, or alteration. 

Identity and contact details of the Data Protection Officer

CARNET has appointed a Data Protection Officer in accordance with the relevant regulations, whom you can contact for all questions related to the processing of your personal data or the exercise of your rights regarding personal data protection within CARNET.

Supervisory body

If you have a complaint regarding your rights, you can submit it to the personal data protection supervisory authority, i.e., the Personal Data Protection Agency (AZOP).
