Lifelong learning program “Digital Competencies in Education” (DIKOBRAZ)

The Digital Competencies in Education program is intended for primary and secondary school teachers, as well as other individuals who wish to acquire, improve, or perfect the digital competencies needed for teaching. It is available to everyone regardless of location, as classes are conducted online.

The program provider is the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek. The program implementers are the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Osijek and the Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET.

The primary goal of this program is to train participants to acquire specific knowledge, skills, and abilities in programming and the application of digital tools in a multimedia educational environment.

General and specific knowledge, abilities, and skills that are acquired through the program Digital Competencies in Education are:

• Training participants in the independent and effective implementation of the teaching process in a multimedia environment
• Understanding and applying acquired digital competencies in communication, evaluation, and assessment of distance learning.
• Designing strategies for effective teaching using digital tools in education.

After the successful completion of the program Digital Competencies in Education The trainee will be able to:

• classify digital tools, services, and content
• manage communication and collaboration in a digital environment
• use digital technology to find and evaluate information
• apply digital technologies for adapting, creating, publishing, and sharing content, including pedagogical aspects of applying digital technologies in teaching
• Apply digital technology tools for monitoring and evaluating learning and teaching processes
• apply e-Schools teaching scenarios and digital educational content as support for the application of digital technologies in teaching
• explain the possibilities of applying artificial intelligence in education
• apply relevant privacy and security practices in a virtual environment
• Explain the basics of managing a digitally mature school.

Program Digital Competencies in Education I can enter:

1. Applicants who have completed a four-year or five-year university graduate program under the old or new (Bologna) system, as well as a two-year graduate program under the new (Bologna) system, or any integrated study program (Bologna mode of study).
2. Applicants who have completed an undergraduate university or professional study program and acquired a minimum of 180 ECTS
3. applicants who have completed secondary education (vocational teachers and teaching assistants in vocational education institutions).

Program Digital Competencies in Education It covers one academic year, with the teaching part lasting 10 Saturdays. Classes are held in real time on Saturdays (generally in the morning) via the Moodle distance learning system and the BigBlueButton video conferencing system.

During the first semester, participants acquire fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge from compulsory and elective courses.. In the second semester, participants deepen their theoretical and practical knowledge and experience through a mandatory subject Digital Practice in School.

The total number of hours completed in the entire education program is 100, of which 64 hours are for compulsory subjects, 32 hours are for elective subjects, and 4 hours are for digital practice in school. Upon completion of the program Digital Competencies in Education A total of 21 ECTS credits are awarded.

Upon completion of the Digital Competencies in Education program, participants also receive a supplementary certificate of professional development in Croatian and English.

The program price per participant is set at 5,000.00 HRK / 663.61 EUR (fixed conversion rate 1 EUR = 7.53450 Croatian kuna).
