In 2023, the Government of the Republic of Croatia adopted a Decision designating the Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET to perform the tasks of the National Coordination Center for Industry, Technology, and Research in the Field of Cybersecurity (NKS) in the Republic of Croatia. That same Decision defines the tasks and activities of CARNET as the NKS, establishes the NKS Management Board, determines its composition and tasks, as well as other issues within the scope of the NKS.

For the purpose of implementing the tasks and activities of the NKS, CARNET has secured funding for the project “Deploying Croatian National Coordination Center” by applying to the call DIGITAL-ECCC-2024-DEPLOY-NCC-06 — Deploying the Network of National Coordination Centres published within the Digital Europe Programme.

The project holder is the Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET. The project duration is 48 months, from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2028.

Through the organization of expert events, training sessions, and collaboration with stakeholders, regional and international cooperation will be encouraged, stakeholders will be connected, and all interested parties will be informed and educated.

The project also provides financial support to third parties, enabling Croatian companies, organizations, and other key stakeholders to improve their cybersecurity maturity and resilience to cyber threats.

The project will promote and disseminate the results of the work of the NKS, as well as the entire Network of NKSs and ECCC. Cooperation and synergies will be developed with national bodies responsible for developing cybersecurity policies, with the aim of positioning the NKS as a key player in this sector.

The project is focused on supporting public institutions and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises in adopting the latest technologies and strengthening resilience against cyber threats, with a particular emphasis on compliance with legislative requirements and regulations.
