CARNET Administrators

+Open all -Close all

In order to ensure a quality relationship between CARNET and member institutions, all primary and secondary education institutions are required to appoint:

  • one directory administrator
  • one resource administrator.

Schools included in the e-Class Register, along with the above mentioned administrators, should also name an e-Class Register administrator.

Directory Administrator

The Directory Administrator is the official school representative who is responsible for updating the LDAP school directory. He must be a member of the institution and appointed by the Principal.

The administrator’s obligation is to update the directory at the beginning of each school year, i.e. add electronic identities to the new AAI@EduHr students and teaching staff, and delete users who no longer have student status or school staff from the database. In addition to updating the directory annually, the administrator is obliged to update the status of the directory and due to changes such as the arrival/departure of a new staff member or student from/to the school.

It is recommended that the directory administrator is a school employee who is otherwise responsible for keeping a student register, or someone from the administrative staff of the school. The administrator’s function is related to the CARNET and member relationships and is not a job.
The Administrator is obligated to follow and enforce the decisions and to respect the recommendations made by CARNET regarding the CARNET resources made available to the member.

Resource Administrator

The Resource Administrator is an official representative of the school responsible for allocating CARNET resources available to his/her school and only to the users of the school where he/she is employed. He/she must be a member of the institution and appointed by the Principal.

The administrator’s obligation is to ensure that the member is responsible for the proper functioning and availability of resources CARNET has made available to the member as well as for the general technical and security status of the computer communication system member of the CARNET network.

He/she may, on behalf of the school, request additional resources from CARNET and establish technical contact with CARNET’s computer-communication resources. If a member has more than one person, associate or institution concerned with the computer communication and information infrastructure of the member, the officially appointed resource administrator is the sole person who maintains the technical contact between the member and CARNET.

The resource administrator is obliged to follow and enforce the decisions and to respect the recommendations made by CARNET regarding the CARNET resources made available to the member.

E-Class Register Administrator

The e-Class Register administrator is a school employee who is responsible for administering the e-Class Register system at their school. This includes a token allocation, correction of incorrect teacher’s input, and communication with CARNET in case of difficulty or special requirements when using the e-Class Register.
