Together we are stronger

EU Erasmus logotipThe project “Together We Are Stronger – Improving Cooperation within CARNET and Supporting the Integration of Asylum Seekers into Croatian Society” is running from August 1, 2018, to July 31, 2020, within the Erasmus+ program, Key Action 1: Learning Mobility for Individuals.

Erasmus+ is the European Union's largest program in the fields of education, training, youth, and sport for the period 2014-2020, whose purpose is to support the efforts of participating countries in the program to effectively utilize the opportunities of European human and social capital, thereby confirming the principle of lifelong learning by connecting support for formal, non-formal, and informal learning in the areas of education, training, youth, and sport.

Project description

Through this project, which includes six mobilities, CARNET aims to contribute to the development of the community and society as a whole by making the opportunities offered by distance learning and the creation of online content accessible to asylum seekers and refugees. After the mobilities are completed, CARNET will hold a focus group with interested associations to design a one-day training session on the use of online tools and platforms for creating accessible and interactive online content, based on relevant data. The knowledge gained from the mobilities will also contribute to CARNET's organizational development through work on internal cooperation within the organization and the establishment of effective communication channels.

The needs that CARNET recognizes as key for further development and which will be met through the implementation of this project are as follows:

  • to collect best practice examples, exchange experiences and information through cooperation with related organizations and participation in activities in an international environment
  • Improve organizational, communication, and presentation skills, as well as group work skills.
  • to improve knowledge of understanding group dynamics and teamwork
  • develop new ideas and methods for implementing informal education
  • to improve conflict management skills, and to design and conduct constructive focus groups
  • to improve existing knowledge on intellectual property protection, with a special emphasis on copyrights and personal data protection in the online environment
  • develop new and improve existing CARNET services (Moodle, MOOC – massive open online courses, and the National portal for distance learning “Nikola Tesla”) and interconnect them
  • to gather experience from partner organizations in using and applying online tools, creating online courses, and their availability to end-users (asylum seekers and asylum applicants in the countries of partner organizations).
The project consists of three phases:
  1. Preparation phase – refers to the collection of necessary documentation, finding and agreeing with involved partner organizations, and other preparatory activities for the realization of mobility
  2. mobility phase – consists of participation in structured courses and job shadowing activities
  3. dissemination of results and knowledge exchange phase – will take place internally, within CARNET, but will include associations and other partners whose users are asylum seekers and asylum applicants.

Mobility

All three of the project's stated phases will be implemented through six different mobility activities, of which four are structured courses and two are job shadowing activities abroad.
