December 13, 2022.

CARNET's project “Enhanced Tools For Creating Equal Opportunities In Education For Pupils With Disabilities – ATTEND” has won the Yellow Frame Award in the Quality Education category. The Yellow Frame Awards have been presented for the fourth consecutive year as part of the Sustainable Croatia project.

“It is a special honor that ATTEND has been recognized among numerous, exceptionally high-quality and inspiring projects from all over Croatia. Congratulations to all the nominees and winners. This recognition is an encouragement for us to continue our work, as we have been doing in previous years, to strengthen individual and institutional potentials through the application of human-centric technology, to create a knowledge-based country,” emphasized CARNET CEO Hrvoje Puljiz.

The judging panel, consisting of the editor-in-chief of National Geographic Magazine Croatia, Hrvoje Prćić, the editor-in-chief of the professional magazine Croatian Water Management, Marija Vizner, and the scientific expert in eco-technology and sustainable development, Robert Kakarigi, recognized ATTEND as one of the projects that contribute to sustainable change in society. The goal of the ATTEND project is to create conditions that foster equal educational opportunities and better education for children with developmental difficulties by ensuring access to digital assistive technologies, as well as their adequate and effective use in educational activities.

The Sustainable Croatia project, organized by National Geographic Croatia and the company Adria Media Zagreb, aims to stimulate interest in education and active engagement, to develop a knowledge-based country, environmental protection, and human values. The Yellow Frame Award highlights significant strides made by individuals, institutions, and organizations across 17 categories and their impact on society.

About the ATTEND Project: The goal of the ATTEND project is to provide 34 educational institutions in the Republic of Croatia with assistive technology to create conditions for equal educational opportunities and successful inclusion in society for children with developmental difficulties. Project partners include the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Zagreb, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing at the University of Zagreb, and the Department of Education and Youth of the City of Reykjavik.

The ATTEND project is implemented under the program contract for Local Development and Poverty Reduction, co-financed by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA), contributing to reducing social and economic inequalities in Europe and strengthening bilateral cooperation between donor states (Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein) and beneficiary states. The total project value is 3.5 million euros, with the majority (85%) funded by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area and a smaller portion (15%) from the state budget.
