Ensuring Access to Croatian Public E-services within the E-Citizens Platform
The Government of the Republic of Croatia launched the e-Citizens system with the aim of modernizing, simplifying, and accelerating communication between citizens and public administration, and increasing the transparency of the public sector in providing public services.
On July 1, 2016, the application of parts of the Regulation on electronic identification and trust services for electronic transactions in the internal market (eIDAS Regulation) began. This Regulation will, among other things, enable the mutual recognition of national electronic identification schemes and facilitate the cross-border provision of numerous public electronic services.online) service on the internal market of the European Union and countries of the European Economic Area.
In order to prepare the technical and operational prerequisites for enabling cross-border access to public e-services, the Republic of Croatia has applied for and begun implementing a project named “Ensuring Access to Croatian Public e-services within the e-Citizens Platform for EU/EEA Citizens“, funded by the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program. Connecting Europe Facility – CEF).
The purpose of the project is to promote the use of electronic identification infrastructure for citizens in the European Union and the European Economic Area. The project will implement technical and business-normative adjustments to the e-Citizens system, the National Identification and Authentication System (NIAS), and public electronic services for citizens. The project is planned for completion by June 14, 2017.
The project holder and coordinator is the Ministry of Public Administration, and the project partners are the Financial Agency (FINA), the Ministry of Finance - Tax Administration, the Croatian Pension Insurance Institute, the Croatian Health Insurance Fund, the Agency for Science and Higher Education, CARNET, the University Computing Centre - SRCE, and the Croatian National Tourist Board.
The project implementation is co-financed by the European Union from the Connecting Europe Facility in the amount of EUR 461,234, and the total value of the project is EUR 614,979.
