Open Discovery Space (ODS)
Open Discovery Space (ODS) was a project funded by the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme – Information and Communication Technologies Policy Support Programme (CIP ICT PSP) with the aim of promoting adoption e-learning resource through socially driven and multilingual and open e-learning portal.
The project started in April 2012 and lasted for three years. 51 partners participated in the project, and CARNET was one of them.
The main objective of the project was to accelerate the exchange, adoption, use, adaptation, and repurposing of existing digital teaching materials from a rich base of educational content created thanks to national initiatives and EU funding.
In addition, the project coordinated the efforts and initiatives of a large number of relevant stakeholders across Europe, stimulating and increasing user demand.
Project Goals
The ODS was focused on addressing various challenges we face within e-learning environments in the context of all of Europe. The interface only e-learning The portal is designed with the needs of students, teachers, parents, and decision-makers in mind.
ODS wanted to fulfill three main goals
- enable stakeholders to access from one, integrated location e-learning resources from various and scattered repositories.
- engaging stakeholders in the production of meaningful educational activities using a multilingual portal designed as a social network offering e-learning resources as well as services for the production of educational activities.
- Assess the impact of new educational activities that could serve as a prototype for adoption by stakeholders in school education.
In the ODS, CARNET acted as the national coordinator for all ODS activities in Croatia, which included:
- the role of organizer and workshop hostvisionary, Practice reflection i summative workshops
- the role of host of the summer school in Croatia in 2013, related to ODS
- Collecting and analyzing data from CARNET repositories
- engaging stakeholders in the discussion about opportunities and obstacles faced by Croatian teachers when using digital educational resources
- participation in the new ODS e-learning portal with two CARNET repositories:
- Portal for Schoolsschool.hrI
- CARNET Moodle servicesmoodle.carnet.hr)
CARNET, through its participation in the project, aimed to encourage the use and creation of digital teaching materials. Furthermore, CARNET's activities promoted the need for creating Open Educational Resources (OER) and fostered a culture of their use and development.
