As part of the ATS2020 project, a workshop „Generic Skills in Learning and Teaching“ was held.“

June 30, 2016.

Organized by the Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNet, and within the framework of the project „Evaluation of Generic Competences 2020 (ATS2020),“ a full-day workshop titled „Generic Skills in Learning and Teaching“ was held in Zagreb on June 16, 2016.

The workshop was intended for teachers from 30 schools across Croatia, who applied in May 2016 to participate in the pilot implementation of the ATS2020 learning model in the 2016/2017 school year.

56 teachers participated in the workshop. In the next school year, they will implement the ATS2020 learning model in one of their classes to develop the generic competencies foreseen by the project in their students, which are: learning to learn, information literacy, communication and collaboration, creativity and innovation, and digital literacy.

During the workshop, teachers had the opportunity to become more familiar with the ATS2020 project and its activities. Among these, the following activities were explained in detail: teachers' professional development, implementation of the trial application of the ATS2020 model, and evaluation of the trial application.

The results of the trial application of the ATS2020 model, collected through the evaluation process, will be part of an international study determining the impact of the ATS2020 model's application in 11 participating ATS2020 project countries, including Croatia, which encompasses a total of 250 schools, or 1000 teachers and 10,000 students.

In the practical part of the workshop, teachers worked in groups to learn how to create learning scenarios at the micro and macro levels according to the ATS2020 model, considering that each teacher will choose four teaching topics during the pilot implementation and create micro and macro level learning scenarios for each topic.

Communication and collaboration with teachers during the pilot implementation, as well as between teachers and students, will take place through Office 365 tools, so teachers had the opportunity to become familiar with some of them at the workshop.

This workshop was organized as part of teacher professional development within the ATS2020 project, and the next one will be held at the beginning of the next school year.
