On Thursday, May 25, 2017, the Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNet held its first TeachMeet, a meeting of teachers actively participating in a community of practice. This event was organized as part of the implementation of the national e-Schools pilot project: Establishing a System for Developing Digitally Mature Schools.
Teachers from primary and secondary schools in Križevci, Osijek, Split, Slavonski Brod, Varaždin, Vukovar, Pula and Zagreb presented their own experiences using technology in teaching to their colleagues through short presentations. They also exchanged ideas on how technology can further improve teaching. Some of the presentations given today at CARNet's TeachMeet included how to use Skype in teaching and the possibilities it offers, how PhET applications can help students understand physics course material, such as wave vibrations or energy, and how applications like Kahoot and Quizlet can facilitate German language learning.
TeachMeet is a dynamic and increasingly popular form of professional training organized in different parts of the world, in which participants use short, time-limited presentations to share their experiences or represent certain ideas.
