National Senior Secondary Certificate Examination
In the 2009/2010 school year, the national secondary school leaving examination was carried out for the first time, as well as online applications for higher education institutions via the National information system for higher education applications.
Thanks to the national secondary school leaving examination and the NISpVU system, secondary school leavers were enabled to carry out all activities concerning their enrollment at higher education institutions at their own school – from expressing interest in studying at selected schools, taking the national secondary school leaving examination (as a replacement for entrance exams), to the enrollment procedure itself.
The system allows students a quick and direct review of the results they achieved on the national secondary school leaving examination, a detailed calculation of their score for each registered degree program according to the rules prescribed by higher education institutions, as well as a review of their rank on the lists for each degree program they expressed interest in.
The Ministry of Science, Education, and Sports initiated the project to establish the national secondary school leaving examination and online enrollment system, with the involvement of project partners: the National Center for the External Evaluation of Education, the Agency for Science and Higher Education, and CARNET. CARNET's responsibility was to provide technical and user support, a role it continues to fulfill for the project to this day.
