Framework for Digital Competencies of Principals Published

April 18, 2023.

The framework for digital competencies of principals was created within the e-Schools project in response to the need to define the digital competencies of principals necessary for the development of digitally mature schools.

The framework is a policy document that describes the management and leadership competencies that principals should possess in order to successfully implement digital technologies in schools, together with teaching and support staff.

The document was created within the framework of the e-Schools Project: Development of a Digitally Mature Schools System (Phase II), funded by the Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET and co-financed by the European Union from the European Structural and Investment Funds.

The authors are experts from the Faculty of Organization and Informatics of the University of Zagreb and from CARNET, who have collaborated with numerous other experts and with the directors themselves since 2019. The document has been enhanced over the years through various workshops, summer schools, and regional meetings, finally being published in its entirety.

It is important to note that this Framework is at the recommendation level and its primary goal is to raise awareness and empower principals in their role as drivers of digital transformation in their schools. By strengthening their digital competencies, principals indirectly influence the digital transformation of the entire community, and therein lies the power and importance of this document in that cause-and-effect relationship.
