The Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNet, in collaboration with its partners, the Faculty of Teacher Education and the Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Rijeka, held the third annual student event „Contemporary Technologies in Education – STO 2016“. The event lasted two days, April 21st and 22nd, 2016, and featured two separate programs. The program on the first day was intended for teachers who lead school project teams in the "e-schools: Establishing a System of Digitally Mature Schools (pilot project)" project, co-financed by the European Union from European structural and investment funds. The program on the second day was specially prepared for students of teacher education faculties and faculties with teaching tracks.
The first day opened with a ceremonial event at which the introductory lecture was given by the Rector of the University of Rijeka, Prof. Dr. Pero Lučin, and on the second day, students were inspired by Prof. Josipa Blagus in an introductory lecture titled „ICT as Motivation in Teaching.“.
In addition to interesting lectures and workshops on teaching and learning in the 21st century and the application of ICT in teaching, participants on both days had the opportunity to see concrete examples from teaching practice and communicate with innovative teachers who use technology in their daily practice to support teaching activities with students.
As part of the event, a prize competition has been organized for students, for which applications are open until May 15th, so we invite all students to participate to this link inform them about the rules and how to participate and win a valuable prize – a PlayStation 4 game console.
CARNet's partners, Microsoft and Lukvel, also attended the event, presenting their educational technologies.
More than 300 participants attended the Student Day over two days.
