On Thursday, October 25, 2018, the fourth Croatian Internet Governance Forum (CRO-IGF) was held at the premises of the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure.
As part of this year's Forum, two panel discussions were held, featuring representatives from academia, industry, and the entrepreneurial sector, as well as representatives from civil society and public administration interested in the future of the internet.
The first panel, “Democracy's Resilience Against Cyberattacks,“ featured Tomislav Štivojević, Assistant Director of CARNET for the National CERT. The discussion also included Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Stjepan Groš from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, Lucijan Carić from DefenseCode, Dario Sušanj from HAKOM, and Jelena Tešija from GONG. The panelists discussed the issue of resilience of European Union democratic systems against cyberattacks, as well as election infrastructure and campaign information systems. They also exchanged views on combating disinformation campaigns, establishing cooperation networks in the field of elections, and recommendations for a coordinated response to large-scale cyber incidents and crises.
The second panel discussion, “Reform of the European Copyright Legal Framework,” featured Leina Meštrović (Digital DemoCroatia), Romana Matanovac Vučković from the Faculty of Law, Mladen Vukmir (Vukmir and Associates), and Vlaho Hrdalo (Association for Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies). The discussion focused on the proposed copyright reform in the European Union and the positive and negative aspects of this reform.
The Croatian National IGF was established in 2015 and is part of a global initiative operating under the auspices of the UN with the idea of bringing together all interested parties in one place to participate equally in discussions on issues important for internet governance.
