On Wednesday, April 6, 2016, the “Agreement on the Development of Criteria and Recommendations for the Creation of Quality e-Textbooks“ was signed. Within the pilot project "e-Schools: Establishing a System for Developing Digitally Mature Schools," under result B5 "Application of Information and Communication Technology and Digital Educational Content in the Educational Process," activity B5.4 "eLektire" is being developed. The first goal of the eLektire activity is the finalized, proofread, and graphically designed "Proposal for Criteria and Recommendations for the Creation of Quality e-Textbooks," which is the subject of the aforementioned Agreement. The Agreement was signed by Mr. Zvonimir Stanić, Director of the Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNet, and Ms. Tatijana Petrić, Director General of the National and University Library in Zagreb.
The National and University Library in Zagreb has engaged an expert working group whose task will be to prepare, organize, and implement the definition of a proposal for criteria and recommendations for creating quality e-reading materials. They will also conduct a public debate on the proposal. The members of the working group are: Asst. Prof. Marko Alerić, PhD, a Croatian language and literature methodologist (Department of Croatian Studies, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Zagreb); Branka Markić, an elementary education expert (Antun Branko Šimić Elementary School in Zagreb); Nataša Sajko, a Croatian language subject matter expert (Medical School in Varaždin); Vladimir Šterle, a technician (company Profociens.eu); Željka Butorac, an expert in inclusive education (Marina Držić Elementary School in Zagreb); Robert Majetić, an editor (CARNet); and Prof. Zoran Velagić, PhD, an e-book expert and head of the working group (Department of Information Sciences, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, J. J. Strossmayer University of Osijek).
The inaugural meeting of the expert working group, representatives of the National and University Library in Zagreb, and representatives of CARNet was held today, April 29, 2016, at the National and University Library in Zagreb. The e-Schools project and the eLektire activity were presented at the meeting, and certain definitions of the planned Proposal for Criteria were specified and clarified. The working group's methodology, work plan, communication, and reporting were presented in detail, all with the aim of successfully implementing the signed contract.
