As part of the ZoomIn4PinkHats project, 14 dedicated female teachers, along with 120 female students from 12 secondary and two primary schools, have devised innovative projects in the field of cybersecurity. This collaboration represents a significant step towards empowering women, encouraging them to actively engage in addressing the challenges of the digital world.
On Thursday, October 31st, the successful completion of the project will be celebrated at Hotel International. ZoomIn4PinkHats (ZI4PH), which, under the leadership of CARNET's National CERT, promoted greater inclusion of women in cybersecurity.
Funded through the GÉANT Innovation Program, the project addresses current issues of equality and support for women in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to work in the cybersecurity industry.
Through mentorship and expert support, the project creates opportunities for collaboration and experience sharing, while simultaneously inspiring girls in their professional development. This approach contributes to building a strong and resilient cybersecurity ecosystem in the long term.
The conference will present the project results, works by the students and their mentors, and feature two panel discussions. Prominent female experts will share their professional experiences, describe career paths in cybersecurity, and discuss ways to motivate more girls and women to engage in this important sector.
The conference program includes:
- Introductory statement on the role of women in cybersecurity, to be held by Nataša Glavor, Assistant Director of CARNET for the National CERT Sector.
- Presentation of the ZI4PH project results, National CERT, CARNET.
- Presentation of projects by students and mentors from schools involved in the project who worked on developing cybersecurity skills.
- Panel discussion “Who are the pink hats?” on the professional challenges and successes of women in cybersecurity, featuring experts from institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, A1 Croatia, Algebra, and the National CERT.
- Panel discussion “When I grow up, I will defend the cyber world”, which is aimed at inspiring young girls for future careers in cybersecurity, with the participation of advisors from ombudsman institutions, academia, and representatives of the Ministry of Interior.
