On the page https://learningfromtheextremes.eu/calls-results/ The results of the tender carried out within the framework of the Learning from the Extremes project have been published. The Learning from the Extremes project is part of preparatory actions aimed at reducing the inequality in access to the internet, digital devices, tools, and content faced by school communities in rural and remote areas of European Union member states. The main objective of the project is to finance school projects through which schools in rural areas will be able to procure digital devices, train teachers, and ensure access to various digital content and tools.
The basic prerequisite for participating in the competition, which was open from May 15 to September 30, 2022, was the geographical location of the school in a rural area, i.e., in an NUTS3 region. NUTS (Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics) is a hierarchical system for identifying and classifying spatial units for the purposes of official statistics in the member states of the European Union.
35 schools applied for the competition. Their applications were first screened to determine validity. This screening primarily assessed whether the school was located in a rural area and whether the value of the proposed project submitted by the school was within the maximum limit of EUR 20,000.00. Valid applications were evaluated based on three given criteria: technological and pedagogical innovation, team capacity, work plan and cost-effectiveness, and potential impact, transferability, and sustainability. Taking into account all the aforementioned criteria, the final decision on selecting the schools eligible for funding their projects through the Learning from the Extremes project was made by the international consortium of institutions involved in the project.
The Learning from the Extremes project team thanks all schools that participated in the competition and congratulates the schools whose projects earned the most points and were thus selected to participate in the Learning from the Extremes project.
Table 1 lists the schools selected to participate in the project based on their achieved scores:
