CARNET successfully implemented during the 2018/2019 school year CRISS project in Croatian primary and secondary schools. As part of the project, 518 schools from all over Europe participated, while a total of 65 primary and secondary schools participated from Croatia, of which 21 schools in onsite pilot.
Croatian schools have achieved an enviable result with the most certified students in all of Europe. At the project level, 2309 certificates for acquired sub-competencies were awarded, of which 773 went to Croatian students.
The most certificates, a total of 138, were obtained by students from Ivo Andrić Elementary School in Zagreb, mentored by teacher Marina Vukančić. Zagreb Business School, where teacher Jasmina Kljunić mentored the project, placed second with 133 certificates. Among the top five schools with the most certificates obtained were Horvati Elementary School Zagreb, Zlatar High School, and Požega Technical School.
Students developed their digital competencies in five areas through the CRISS platform: (1) Digital Citizenship, (2) Digital Communication and Collaboration, (3) Searching and Managing Digital Information, (4) Creating Digital Content, and (5) Digital Problem Solving. In relation to a specific area, they earned certificates based on objective results, specifically on the total number of solved tasks related to specific sub-competencies. Certificates were automatically obtained through the platform itself via the progress analysis page.
The CRISS project was launched as part of the European research and innovation program HORIZON 2020 with the aim of testing a platform that will enable the acquisition, evaluation, and certification of digital competencies for students in primary and secondary schools across Europe.
Within the project, 15 European partners from the fields of new technologies, digital competencies, educational innovations, learning, and teaching participate. The Croatian partners in the project are the Faculty of Organization and Informatics of the University of Zagreb and the Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET, whose role was the implementation and monitoring of the project in Croatian schools.
