The preliminary program has been published. 22. CARNet User Conference CUC 2020, which will be held under the title “Challenge Accepted!” from November 4-6, 2020, entirely in online format.
This year's conference features several interesting keynote lectures on the topic of artificial intelligence in education. We are opening the conference with a keynote lecture Dr. Wayne Holmes, lead researcher in the education innovation programme at the UK innovation foundation Nesta.
At CUC, Dr. Holmes will talk about whether the introduction of artificial intelligence into education should be subject to critical oversight and whether teachers should initiate early discussions with AI technologists and entrepreneurs, all to ensure that the use of artificial intelligence in classrooms is truly beneficial and that it always begins and ends with learning.
Second invited lecture Dr. Markus Schatten titled “Will Robots Steal My Job? A Short History of Artificial Intelligence and What We Can Learn From It for the Future,” will show that what we are experiencing in the field of AI is actually the third wave of artificial intelligence, which in many aspects is very similar to the previous two, which unfortunately ended ingloriously.
Will history repeat itself, or will we learn something this time? And what should we learn, and what knowledge and skills can help us to peacefully welcome the new era that is dawning? Such questions will be asked and answered within the framework of this lecture.
This year's CUC will also feature an invited lecture. Momčilo's Ace On the topic “National AI Capital – First Results of a Global Study (What You Need to Know If You Are in the Educational Sector?)”.
What are the biggest differences between the countries and individuals we are discussing? How could the development of AI affect these differences in the future? What is national AI capital as a concept? Do schools contribute to the generation of national AI capital? Find the answers to these questions on the third day of the conference.
The conference will feature over 70 interactive presentations, 36 workshops, two panel discussions, several research presentations, and one roundtable discussion. Find more information at conference program by clicking on the title of the work and on the website CARNET User Conference.
