Today, March 31, 2023, an introductory meeting of the participants in the pilot research, which is being conducted within the framework of the e-University project, was held. The e-University project is being implemented with the aim of digitally transforming higher education in the Republic of Croatia by improving digital teaching infrastructure, introducing digital teaching tools, and strengthening teachers' digital competencies for teaching in a digital environment. The project leader, main partner organization, and beneficiary of the project is the Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET, and it is implemented in partnership and cooperation with the University Computing Centre – Srce, the Agency for Science and Higher Education – AZVO, and the National and University Library in Zagreb.

The purpose of the research is to analyze the needs of higher education institutions in the area of digital technology application, establish a learning community, share examples of good practice, and develop recommendations for the purposeful practical application of digital technologies in higher education, as well as to develop recommendations for equipping higher education institutions with teaching equipment.
The attendees were addressed by the Director of CARNET, Hrvoje Puljiz, and the Assistant Director of SRCE, Dr. sc. Sandra Kučina Softić, after which the research leader, Dr. sc. Klara Bilić Meštrić, acquainted those present with the program for today's meeting and the next steps in the research implementation. She emphasized that participation in the research will enable the development of digital competencies for all employees and indirectly improve the digital maturity of each institution. By participating in the aforementioned activities through reflective dialogue with experts in the field of digital technology application in education, participants will gain insight into the latest trends in the digital transformation of education.
