Extended deadline for applications for the final ISE event and lecture by Prof. Ph.D. Ivica Puljak

October 11, 2016.

On Friday, October 14, 2016, from 11 AM to 3 PM, the final ISE event will be held at CARnet premises, located at Josipa Marohnića 5. This event will provide an opportunity to popularize science and present best practices from the ISE project.

In the first part of the event, Prof. Dr. Ivica Puljak, a university professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Split, a scientist at CERN, and a member of the CMS and MAGIC collaborations, will popularize science with his inspiring lecture „Why and How Do We Explore the Universe?”. In addition to intriguing information about the universe, this lecture can also be a motivation and an idea for bringing natural science topics closer to your students.

To all of you who want to motivate your students, the second part of the event will help, where teachers who participated in the project and applied technology in teaching, especially so-called ISE learning scenarios, will present examples of good practice.

Is there a better motivation for students, but also for all of you, than the realization that the Earth's circumference can be measured with a simple experiment, as the great scientist Eratosthenes did long ago? Come to the ISE final event, find out how your colleagues organized and conducted the measurement of the Earth's circumference, and at the first opportunity, take your students on a scientific adventure called the „Eratosthenes Experiment.“.

There are still a few spots left, so we invite you to register at http://www.carnet.hr/ise/prijava by Wednesday, October 12th, no later than 12:00 PM. All interested parties who are unable to register will have the opportunity to follow the live broadcast at https://meduza.carnet.hr/index.php/media/stream/11411 or to watch a recording of the events that will be published later. No registration is required for live streaming.
