May 23, 2023.
On Monday, May 22, 2023, the first meeting of the Project Steering Committee was held. CroQCI, the highest-level decision-making body responsible for monitoring and managing project activities. In addition to members of the CroQCI consortium, representatives from the Ministry of Science and Education were also present at the meeting. The project plan and the proposed architecture for the QCI study were adopted at the meeting.
The goal of the CroQCI project is the implementation of experimental quantum communication systems and networks, supplemented and integrated with a range of classical secure communication technologies.

This includes building and testing devices and systems that combine the best of quantum, post-quantum, classical, and quantum-enhanced solutions.

CroQCI will ensure the network architecture and use case designs that will enable the integration of ground infrastructure with a future space component into a fully functional quantum communication network.

The project holder or coordinator is the Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET, and the partner organizations are the Ruđer Bošković Institute (IRB), Maritime Electronics Center Ltd. (PCE), University of Zagreb University Computing Centre (SRCE), Institute of Physics (IFZ), University of Zagreb Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER), University of Zagreb Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences (FPZ), Croatian Transmission and Distribution Ltd. (OIV), and the Office of the National Security Council (UVNS).
