How to become a user

You can log in to Loomen using your electronic identity within the AAI@EduHr system. 

Post to CARNET Loom online distance learning platforms are extremely simple. Just access Loomenu Click on AAI@EduHr login in the upper right corner. All teachers who wish to open their course in Loomen must first fill out course opening form.

Appointing Category Administrators

According to the decision CDA0054 «Remote learning support service» As of April 18, 2013, Article 3, the category administrator is the official representative of the institution appointed by an authorized person within the institution they represent. It is recommended that the category administrator position be held by a person with advanced knowledge in the field of information and communication technologies and experience in using a distance learning system or a system with similar characteristics (CMS and similar).

Category administrator (manager) can access courses within their category, add courses to their category, and delete courses from their category. The category administrator also has all the privileges of a lecturer within their assigned category. The role of category administrator is assigned by the Loomen system administrator based on a written request from an authorized person at the institution that requested the service.

The role category administrator is on the Loomen system, in relation to the CARNET relationship and the member, and is not a job position. To assign the role of category administrator, the user is obliged to fill out Category Administrator Appointment Form.

The authorized person at the institution confirms the authenticity of the data with their signature and seal. The signed and sealed form must be sent to the following address:

Opening a local user account

According to the decision CDA0054 «Remote learning support service» From April 18, 2013, Article 3, in exceptional cases when necessary for scientific research, development, and educational purposes, as well as for participation in national and international projects, CARNET may grant access rights to the Loomen system and other individuals associated with CARNET users, using local user accounts, who do not have an electronic identity in the AAI@EduHr system.

To gain the specified access, the user is required to fill out Local User Account Creation Form. The authorized person at the institution where the user will be engaged confirms the authenticity of the data by signing and stamping. In exceptional cases, a physical person who is a CARNET user may guarantee a new user.

Login and System Usage

Anyone can use the Loomen system.

Access to the Loomen system is enabled on two levels:

  • users from the academic and research community who have an electronic identity in the AAI@EduHr system, as well as primary and secondary school students and teachers in the Republic of Croatia who have an electronic identity within the HUSO system. By logging into the system, you can access content located under “My Courses,” and lecturers also have the option to open new courses or use ready-made courses that can be downloaded.   • Free access (Guest role) is available to all interested users regardless of whether they have an electronic identity. It allows access to all open courses on Nikola Tesla Portal for teacher courses on the Loomen system who have enabled guest access to their courses.
How do I get user login details for the system?

To obtain an electronic identity (username and password) in the AAI@EduHr system, contact the administrator at your institution.

How can I log into the system?

You are applying at the link https://loomen.carnet.hr/ entering your username from the AAI@EduHr or HUSO system, for example: ime.prezime@ustanova.hr eleven iprezime@ustanova.hr with the correct password.

I forgot my username and password.

To reset or verify your electronic identity, contact the administrator at your institution.

I'm trying to log in to the Loomen system, but the system is giving me an 'Unhandled Exception' message.

The problem is likely due to a slow internet connection which ultimately causes the session to end, and therefore the login attempt. We advise you to try accessing the system from another computer, or with a faster internet connection, for example at school or university.

How to open a new course?

To open a course in CARNET's Loomen system, you need to be logged into the system. After logging in at the address https://loomen.carnet.hr, fill out the New Course Request Form. You log into the system at www.loomen.carnet.hr, by selecting the “AAI@EduHr login” link in the top right corner of the interface and entering your username and corresponding password – the electronic identity from the AAI@EduHr system assigned at your institution.

Who is entitled to open a new course?

Teaching and other staff at member institutions of CARNET have the right to open new courses. Opening new courses is not planned for students and pupils, except in exceptional cases and on the recommendation of a mentor.

Who to contact in case of problems?

I applied for online exchange rate, what now?

If you are attending for the first time online course on the Loomen system, you need to after logging in to online course register in the Loomen system at http://loomen.carnet.hr.

For courses organized by CARNET – on the first day online You will receive a welcome message via the email address you entered on the registration form. online mentor assigned to you online course. The message will contain all the information needed for successful enrollment in online course.

For courses from other organizations (e.g., AZOO) – attendance rules defined by the organizer apply. It is customary for attendees to receive attendance instructions in a timely manner.

I cannot access the course I should be enrolled in.

For the lecture schedule and adding/enrolling in courses, it is necessary to contact the institution or the respective professor or lecturer, the course holder. CARNET is solely responsible for technical difficulties and for assistance when using the Loomen system.

Which course can I access?

It is possible to access the course to which your mentor has enrolled you or for which they have provided an access password, as well as all other courses where mentors have not restricted access and have enabled self-registration (it is sufficient to click on the course title and select the YES option for access).

On your profile's course list, you can check which courses you currently have approved access to.

The system did not record the time I spent in the course.

The Loomen system cannot immediately display the time you have spent in the course. A certain time lag is required for the processing and display of total time. After logging out of the system, wait a while and check the time spent in the program again. The settings for the time calculation tool are defined by the course instructors.

I completed the course, but I did not receive a certificate of attendance.

CARNET provides technical support for courses held on the Loomen system. To obtain attendance certificates, please contact the instructors, mentors, or other individuals listed as responsible within the course.

How can I access the programs of the Agency for Education and Training?

To attend the listed programs, you must first register through the database. http://www.ettaedu.eu/ Educational and training agencies, where application deadlines are published. How to register in the database, see at the address: http://ettaedu.azoo.hr/Pitanja.aspx. The database is for login purposes only educational professionals for the professional development courses of AZOO. After registering for the program, and before it begins, you will receive detailed instructions from AZOO on how to log into the Loomen system where the programs are held. The program organizer is the Agency for Education and Training, and CARNET provides technical support for the sessions on the Loomen system.

If information about future appointments is not currently available, we advise you to follow the announcements at educonnect or contact the Agency for Education to find out when the dates will be published.

The course does not display video materials. What can I do?

The problem most likely relates to displaying insecure content. To successfully display certain presentations or videos within the program, you need to enable the display of „insecure” content in your web browser itself. For example, in Internet Explorer, this is done by clicking the “Show all content” button that appears at the bottom of the window. In some versions of Mozilla Firefox, you need to click the shield icon that appears in the address bar, directly in front of the web address. In the window that then opens, next to the “Keep blocking” option in the dropdown menu, select the “Disable protection on this page” option.

The course is set up so that documents and video materials open one after another, but I cannot access them. What is the problem?

The course is used on a conditional basis. After you have viewed the document or video, mark it by clicking the checkbox on the right side, and then refresh the page.Refresh) the page using your browser's “refresh” option or the F5 key to display the next video or document.

How to restrict access to a course?

There are several ways to disable access to the course.

In the course settings, in the window General > Visibility choose Sugarwhip. The course will be unavailable to students until you make it visible again.

If the course is visible, in the course settings under the heading Guest access Disable guest access (anonymous users) or enable guest access with mandatory password setup.

In the block Settings>E-course Administration>Users>Enrollment Methods On the e-collegium, check and, if necessary, disable Self-enrollmentAutoenroll) you access as a guest.

I cannot add a new activity to the course.

On the course cover, select the button Enable edits. Check if the resource and activity dropdown menus are available and add the ones you want.

If your course is in SCORM format in the course settings, under the title E-course format Select a course format that will not be SCORM, e.g. weeks eleven thematic Save the changes. After adding the activities, you can return the course to SCORM format.

How to add students or pupils to a course?

Students must first log into the Loomen system using their AAI@EduHr credentials. After that, they become available to be added to a course for which you are an instructor. Can I upload pre-prepared questions to a question bank in Moodleimport)?

Questions can be loaded into the question bank via a block. Settings > Course Administration > Question Bank > Import. Moodle supports multiple file formats. If you are importing questions from a .txt file, it must be in UTF-8 encoding. When saving a file, UTF-8 is selected instead of ANSI. encoding.
