Minister of Science and Education Prof. Radovan Fuchs, Ph. D. appointed Hrvoje Puljiz the new CEO of Croatian Academic and Research Network – CARNET for the next four years.
To ensure continuity in raising the level of digital competence and skills of school staff and equipping schools with modern equipment, Hrvoje Puljiz plans to continue with the implementation of projects with a special emphasis on new projects funded by the EU funds and programs.
„CARNET is one of the leaders in the digital transformation of the education system. I became acquainted with the work of CARNET as Head of the minister’s office at the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports almost 20 years ago. I am glad to see how much the institution has progressed in that period and contributed to the improvement of the educational process. I intend to develop CARNET in line with the strategic framework of the Republic of Croatia and the European Union in cooperation with our users and all important stakeholders”, said Hrvoje Puljiz assuming the office, adding that investing in human resources is crucial to achieving that goal.
In the following period, CARNET will also focus on designing new services based on artificial intelligence, in line with global trends in the application of ICT in education. CARNET will further increase the quality of user support and cooperation with member institutions.
Hrvoje Puljiz graduated in economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business, the University of Zagreb in 2001, and completed postgraduate specialist studies of Financial Management at the Faculty of Economics, University of Split.
He joined CARNET from the position of Director of the Security Operations and Legal Department at the Central Depository and Clearing Company (CDCC), where he was responsible for regulatory cooperation and capital market participants, as well as for the conducting of operations. He was also in charge of business processes development and managing projects of Croatian financial integration in the euro area.
He began his career as Head of the minister’s office at the Ministry of Science, Education, and Sports, where he was responsible for the efficient functioning of the Office of the Minister and communication with stakeholders.
Before joining CARNET, he gained extensive experience in the segment of investment fund management and financial consulting and held various management positions.
